Casco Antiguo Panama
Casco Viejo Panama
Historic Real Estate For Sale, For Rent

The Iglesia de la Merced was built in 1680 and is one of the oldest churches in Casco Antiguo. It stood at the entrance of the protected city, right by the door to enter the big stone wall that was built to repell the possible attacks of pirates.  Run by the Parroquia de Fatima, the full name of this church is Nuestra Señora de la Merced.

For the last eight months, its external chapel has been under restoration by the architect Raul Murillo. The $30,000 rescue is being funded partially by the church and partially by the community.

Here are some interesting fotos of the church.... really ultra before, more or less before and today.

The chapel under restoration is the one behind the dunkey.
