Casco Viejo, Panama
Casco Antiguo, Panama
For Sale, For Rent & More!

I am not joking when I say I have never seen anything move so fast in this country. I don´t know if it is because the Presidential Elections are so close now (in May) and the current President is really interested in inaugurating it while he is still on power or if it is just because Odebrecht has done an out of this world job. Probably is a bit of both. But whatever the real reason is, the Cinta Costera is very well in advance. You can see now the large stretches of park being watered every morning by big cisterna cars. Palms (lots of palms), trees and bushes have been planted, more to come. The impact of the green scenario is positive, people have started to get a glance at what will become Panama City´s next iconic photo.

For Casco Viejo it is all good news. On this side of the cinta, the new pipes for the sewer treatment are being placed. Soon, and at the speed they are moving I´m sure it will be sooner than expected, the Cinta Costera´s park will touch Casco Antiguo nearby the Mercado del Marisco (Fish Market) allowing direct access to a fantastic outdoors area.

I usually don´t like to get ahead of things not to get disapointed. But right now, it is quite obvious. All I can do is imagining myself waking up in the morning and running from San Felipe all the way out there and back. And soon, as the cleanning project to clean the bay goes forward, I´ll be able to use the four beaches that surround the Casco for more than walking my dog and hanging out.

There is no doubt Panama City will gain a wonderful asset with the Cinta Costera. But no one is in a better position to benefit more from it than my 300 year old - beach-surrounded Casco Viejo.
