Casco Antiguo, Panama
Casco Viejo, San Felipe

Gearing up for Panama´s Jazz Fest, Danilo Perez must be head over heels. Organizing this festival is a huge task no matter what, but to also nurture the educational part through the Fundacion Danilo Perez and having time to produce an excellent album ... wao!  But in the brief time I´ve known him and Patricia, they never stop.  And I´m very grateful they don´t, because their vision on improving arts and music education in Panama is fantastic. Soon they´ll announce an interesting project they are doing in Casco Viejo... stay tooned!

See more about Across the Crystal Sea HERE and at the NY Times.

"The pastel shimmer of ''Across the Crystal Sea'' has no real precedent in the recording history of Danilo Perez, a pianist, composer and educator with active roots in his native Panama. Over the last 20 years Mr. Perez has earned acclaim especially for his rhythmic daring and rigorously playful take on improvisation. Like most jazz musicians, he could have gone an entire career without making a lustrous album with a symphony."
