Panama, Casco Antiguo
Panama, Casco Viejo

Wonderful Friday, blue summer sky. It is around 8:30 a.m. so it is still quite a nice breeze morning. I usually open the big windows of my office into the street as I hate air conditioning and suddenly a burst of laughter of tons of kids dressed in school uniforms walking by Calle 1era with their teachers.

Friday is a day most schools in the area take to organize what they call "paseos", where they take their students to different places to illustrate them about a specific theme. Casco is a fantastic place for paseos, as history is around every corner. Not sure if the kids are actually paying attention while they sip their "raspaos" (crushed ice + tons of sugar + red liquid, still undefined), but if I know anything about education is that it isn“t enough to "hear" (not even listen) to the teacher talking in a classroom. If you manage to get out and make it an adventure, it will stick longer, it will really be learned.
