The king is coming! The naso tribe has been camping for a while now at Plaza Catedral asking for a hearing with the President to talk about their relocation. The government is building a hydroelectric plant for which they have to be relocated... something that somehow they still haven´t figured out. So their king, Valentin Santana is coming this sunday to push the issue and create awareness on their cause.

While the project has national importance, we also would like to support them in their cause: they need a place to live! Panama has always been protective of its indigenous patrimony, currently 20% of the nation´s territory is either comarca (our type of reservation) or protected land dedicated to specific tribes. Way more than other countries, for sure. However, the Naso tribe is a very small one, and the answer to flooding their lands to supply electricity to the country can´t be just telling them to move out. A solution has to be put in place, not only suggested taking advantage of the political moment.

This Sunday, there will be a cultural event to support them....

Subject: Todos somos naso: festival urbano por el pueblo naso ESTE FIN DE SEMANA

Desde el viernes 8 de mayo a las 4:00pm hasta el domingo 10 de mayo

Un festival urbano en apoyo al campamento de los indígenas naso-teribe en la Ciudad de Panamá. Ven y acampa el fin de semana junto a los activistas naso y el Rey Naso Valentín Santana, y parquea el viernes y el sábado en la noche con música, malabares y artistas!

Puedes acampar el viernes y/o el sábado. No hay problemas de seguridad porque el SPI nos vigila constantemente.

Si no quieres acampar, ven a parquear y a pasarla bien en la noche!
