Today big news in the papers: Panama occupied one of the first positions in Latin America at the World Economic Forum´s Financial Development Index.  I looked at their website, and found that not only it ranked 29th on their full worldwide list, but really there was no Latin American country on the first 28 positions, followed by Chile on position No. 31st and Brazil on the 34th. The note also revealed that, from the first 30 only Panama and Australia had a higher score than last year. 

The index is supposed to analyze 120 variables that include the country´s financial stability among others. The report placed Panama´s banking system at the 9th position worldwide. The report says " A sound institutional environment and broad financial access are the key drivers of Panama´s place as the highest ranked Latin American of the Index (29th)."
