By Iranovy Grenald (excerpt from La Prensa)

The Casco Antiguo is the perfect place in the city to perform an activity such as the Third Musical Festival of Saint Malo, that will be held starting this Thursday 28 until June 7. This third version of the festival which bears the name of who was the director in 1941 of The National Academy of Music of Panama the panamanian Alfredo De Saint Malo (1898-1984) will consist on a series of concerts presented in the National Teather (Tickets starting from $5 to $15 per show), Anita Villalaz Teather (general entrance $5), Anthropological Museum Reina Torres de Arauz (all the seats are in $5), and Plaza Catedral(free entrance).

Students and lovers of the musical staves will have the chance to receive lectures and talks about piano, trumpet, voice, orchestra direction, cello, viola, guitar, musical terapy, and panamanian folklore. The guests and artists in charge of this teaching are: David Viscolo, José Aurelio Castillo, Irena Sylva, Darío Ntaca, Francoise de Clossey, Mauro Maur, Keith Robinson, Helen Kitras, Jaime Ingram, Patricia Zárate and Melanie Taylor among other professionals.

But this does not end here... with this festival idea, arose the start of a new proyect with the kids between 8 to 16 years old in San Felipe, Santa Ana and El Chorrillo; they will receive clases of flute, violin, cello, bass, clarinet and trumpet. The name of this proyect is "Aguas del Chorrillo" that started early this year, and it becomes possible thanks to the teamwork of the Fundación Sinfonía Concertante de Panamá and the Oficina del Casco Antiguo. The funds collected on the Saint Malo Festival will be donated to this musical proyect.
