Real Estate For Sale For Rent in Panama

Direct flight from Panama to Amsterdam: ten hours (and a half) later I had passed from full tropical weather to Amsterdam´s chilli autum, and eating dutch pancakes wrapped in four layers of clothing. Being from Panama, for me, cold is an exotic destination. Examples of exotic animals include (and are not limited to): sheeps, furry cows (or furry anything), lambs. Interesting architecture features include chimneys. Ah, and don´t forget the change of light during seasons. That still puzzles me. Incredible. And it was all not even eleven hours away from my tropical- never change sun hours in the entire year- jungle full of monkeys and who knows what else as they are still studying it country.

This made most dutch laugh, to see my enthusiasm at eating those pancakes. But it made me realize also how the concept of exotic and a great vacation changes from the personal perspective of the geography and culture you where born in. My dad just never travels on summer. "Why should I?" he told me the other day when asked about his favorite time to travel. He favors snow. I´m not that radical, but in his point of view, since Panama is all year round going from 28 degrees to 35 on really hot days, he can´t see the logic on travelling and looking for more of the same. I think my frozen toes in Iceland had a couple arguments about that, but he has a point.

So I thought to myself, isn´t this interesting. While I can take a plane at night and be in cold weather the next morning eating pancakes, anyone in Amsterdam can do the same and be on a boat at the Panama Canal lake in the afternoon watching monkeys or even hiking at one of our 15 minute away national parks and discover what the rainforest is all about.

Travelling before used to be this amazing journey for months on mule, horse, boat. And once there, wao, you had to work your way back. Now is so easy... just wait two hours in the airport, take a sleeping pill and wake up to your adventure the next morning!
